State Reps are saying they didn't realize there was opposition to the crossbow issue, nor do they act like it really matters. Its the job of bowhunters to make sure it does matter.


Line of attack on the crossbow issue.
1. Boycott the ATA-NRA team. Make it so costly for them the crossbow agenda is abandoned. There is no reasoning with these crossbow guys.
2. Full capitulation on the part of the bowhunters. Make all archery seasons general gun seasons, at the very least include the muzzle loaders. This would totally shut down the crossbow issue. Its most likely the next step anyway.
3. or 2a. Start from square one and apply for new archery seasons, write the laws and regulations so that archery seasons will not be infringed. 4. Allow time for the ATA-NRA data to prove itself inaccurate then lobby to reverse the damage the crossbows have done to archery seasons.

LostHawg, I'm just a plain ordinary bowhunter nothing else nothing more. I was a member of the LSBA the first year they started. Even gave them extra money and helped(work parties) to set up LSBA shoots at BFAC on Woodway. Made all the LSBA javi and goat hunts back then but somewhere alone the way I no longer fit in with the "elite". The LSBA quit sponsoring hunts and became pretty much an elite compound target club. I guess that's all part of that "change" we've been hearing about but I didn't like it then and do not like it now with the crossbows.

The ATA is claiming they have reached a saturation point for compound bowhunters and that's why they now have to have the crossbows in archery season. I think they are correct with their math in counting the number of compound bowhunters but are wrong in believing they have reached a saturation point. They have a retention problem not a saturation problem. As compound shooters progress to the ease of accurate shooting with today's technologies they quickly find out they can not enter the realm of that elite few at the top and thus move on. Now we're turning the problem of retention over to the crossbow shooters and this is not positive for bowhunting.

You shouldn't have left, that discription does not fit our current Membership or Executive Council at all, Chris...sounds like we needed your help more than ever at that time.

It's all good though, "Rock-n-Roll never forgets" and the door is always open.

As for the ATA...I agree, they are about "selling" products and selling-out bowhunters to do it.

Joey is correct. The LSBA has been sponsoring hunts and promoting archery throughout the states for several years now. Just look at all the work Dena, Buff and many others do.

Chris, we need voices like yours in the org to keep it as the BOWhunting org for the state. Per our bylaws, the crossbow is disqualified as archery equipment. And, we only make exceptions for certified handicapped persons.
