How many will not be hunting this fall if gas reaches $5?

I know some will say they will NEVER stop hunting, but realistically there is a breaking point and the farther away your deer lease the closer its getting. And its not just the gas, its the cost of living and prices of everything going up, the domino effect if you will. At some point putting food on the table out weighs having fun.

It will hurt and I may go a little less, but they will not stop me from going. If need be, I will give up something else.

Bought me a little car to haul me and the grandboys to the lease if gas keeps going up. We will make less trips and stay more days.

Well, the price of gas does not dictate my hunting practices. I'm sorry, but I won't let the oil companies own me.

You must not be married and have kids or are rich, the middle class is hurting.

That is why you hunt 75 miles away from your house. Not 6 + hours.

Its going to hurt, no doubt, but won't stop me. Heck I am drving to CO for our elk hunt! BTW, my Tacoma has a super charger on it so I have to run 95 octane or higher. That gas is not much cheaper than diesel.

I'm lucky in a way there are 5 of us that live within 3 miles of each other and we all have crewcabs so I think there will be a lot of car pooling. I gave up hunting in Texas one year awhile back and I wasn't a happy camper so I will find away.

I made a 600Lb feeder to cut the trips in half during the off season. That way I can save up and be able to hunt after the season opens. If their is a will their is a way, but yes it is pretty tight.

We did the Dave Ramsey thing about 3 years ago and now we are "Debt Free!" My breaking point is probably $5 bucks for my own Crew Max Tundra. But, I also drive a company car that has unlimited usage/gas! I am late to this thread so I guess we are all alright since I saw gas at Shell today for $3.34!!!
