I'm definately not a story teller...And as a new bow hunter and almost a new hunter in general I don't have any cool stories about the one that got away...

I have had alot of awesome experiences in wildfire tho..Seeing some of the most remote wilderness areas in the lower 48...

Three years back I was at a fire called the Blackwater Complex on the Shoshone NF in Wyoming..First time in Wyoming..They flew me into Cody and gave me a briefing then were taking us to the fire which was just outside the east entrance to yellowstone..During the briefing they went on and on and on about the bears..We all had to be training to use bear spray, etc, etc..

No one thought much of it..The next day they took us out to our camp and we all started work..Few days went by and we were making progress on the fire and everything was good..Till the yelling started..First one voice then the next..I was in the command cabin that was the rangers station for the district..I walked outside to hear some people yell in camp but could not hear what they were yelling about or see them cause of the tents..So I eased on over and came around the corner of one of the tents to see a full sized grizzly sow and cub just chilling out in camp. They weren't raising any cane just kind of walking around..OH MY friends..You talk about pucker factor, thats it!

Anyway, to make a long story short the bears were around for about an hour and then just wondered back off...Alot of debate as to whether or not to spray them but in the end they just walked away..Don't think I slept much for the next ten nights!!!!

Ha! And you said you couldn't tell stories. LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE! And you a fireman. LOL

Welcome to the campfire. I have some fond memories of Wichita Falls. I was stationed at Shepard during the Vietnam war. Played a lot of softball, we came in second in city and won regional against Abilene. I also ran a few marathons while in the AF. Lost a lot of weight running 5-6 miles a day up there in August.

Was pretty wild..Wish I would have had a camera! I'm not sure if I would want to hunt one..Of all the big game hunting there is something about bears I justydon't know if I could hunt one..Then again, when that bad boy was laying on the ground I probably would not feel that way!
