Default I am sick!

I just had to make a phone call I didnt want to make. Just got off the phone with Hot4huntin and had to tell her I will not be able to accept the Badger Bush Safari. Ms Dena, I am so sorry you have to go thru the hassle of drawing again for a winner. I am sick to say the least. Thank you to LSBA and Badger Bush Lodge for the oppurtunity to go on this hunt. I am sorry I will not be able to enjoy such a great prize.

During a break from a permit class today, my unit supervisor informed me that I will be transfered from operations to maintenance as an electrician. This is a mandatory move due to downsizing. Maintenance is short handed now and need help.

I would be off of shift work and going to M-F 10 hours a day. Three day weekends. That part is cool. Sleep til 5:30 every morning instead of 2:30, great. Holidays off, awesome.

Now the BAD part. I get to drive to work one day more every week. That means more gas and toll road fees. I lose 16 hours built in over time every month. $8670 a year to be exact. Not to mention I lose my 7 day off long change every month. And I lose 80 hours of holiday pay that could be used as vacation. So, that adds up to approx $9000 a year cut in pay, lose 14 weeks of vacation AND I will not be able to go to South Africa.

As soon as I heard I was being transferred, I went to the electrical foreman and told him I had a couple of trips planned and would it be a problem getting off. I was informed that an outage was starting Aug 5 til the end of the month and no maintenance personnel would be able to take vacation during the outage. He didnt want to start making special concessions for a new crew member. I told him the trip was already planned, he said if I could bring him my flight plans showing when I bought the tickets, then he would allow me to be off. I do not have my ticket for Africa. SO, if the ticket was purchased anytime after I talked to him, it was my tough luck.

I know I should be thankful I still have a job and I am. I am very grateful to still be working. I could be sittin at home wishin I had a job. But it just sux that all my plans for this year have changed. Camping trips, hunting trips, AFRICA.

Sorry for being such a cry baby. I feel like I have been kicked in the jewels...several times. I NEED TO GO KILL SOMETHING.
