LSBA Fellowship Javelina Hunt
Decided to go ahead and put this as a new thread.
Great hunt. Met a lot of good people and had a fine time. I didn't really hunt on this one, but just went along for the fellowship and there was plenty of that. Maybe too much on Saturday night. I think I fixed that second Toddy a little bit too stout.
As far as the hunting went, I won't mention any names, but the brothers whose last name rhymes with Hildrogo had several shots at javelina (actually nothing rhymes with Hildrogo, but Hildrogo, LOL). Wes also had a shot, but no peccary. When I headed back to Rockport yesterday morning, several hunters were still in the field hoping to close the deal on a javi, so maybe we'll get a fourth quarter report.
You could have filled the truck with rabbits, and Brian harvested six one night. Since I mainly supervised, I directed my assistant to go out and get a pig, and Brad (Biggen) Adams actually came through! Nice sow of about 120 pounds. I was really impressed with that lighted nock that enabled even Brad to track it down. Going to be some good eating there. Time to break out the Raspberry Chipolte.
Final note Melissa Williams came with her two kids. Since Coach Williams is overseas on a military tour, Tink came down and sat a stand with Alexis who is 12 (?). On an evening hunt Alexis saw deer, a crippled bobcat and a bunch of javelina. She didn't get a shot, but she did try her first stalk on a the javelina herd. Pretty cool.
Next hunt is the Grunts and Gobbles in April. We're about half full on that one, so if you want to go, check out the ad and get me a deposit.
Shoot straight.
