Default Cull Buck Hunt

For the past 10 years or so, the BAO crew and family have been hunting javelina on a 5000 ac high fenced ranch at Mirando City, TX (just east of Laredo).

Since we usually take these trips in Feb. we always get to see some incredible bucks as they usually still have their horns when we're there. The rancher has never allowed bowhunting for deer on the ranch and I couldn't afford his prices anyway - $5000 for a 5 day hunt for trophy bucks.

He has recently done an arial survey of the property and has decided that he needs to take out a good many management bucks and has asked me to try to put a group together to do this.

The bucks to be hunted are 8 points that are 3 1/2 y/o and older. We see a number of these bucks every year and many of them will go in the 140-145 class.

The hunt can be with bow or rifle. I think a rifle hunt would be a slam dunk. May be a different story with a bow as he is not really set up for bowhunting. Could probably be done but odds would be less favorable for bowhunters.

The hunt will take place Jan 18-20 and cost would be $2500 per person. No kill fees. Lodging and cold storage included. Hunters would need to furnish their own food, bedding, and transportation as well as any corn needed for baiting roads. There are tower stands in place that would work great for rifle hunters but not conducive to bowhunting. Hunt will be limited to 7 hunters.

This is MLD land and no buck tag is necessary, only a valid hunting license.

I told him I would run it by my crowd to see if there is an interest. If interested, please reply here or email to shelley@wf.net

Sounds like a great place but a little out of my price range. Good luck on getting a group together.

Sounds like a great deal, John! Good to see that he is willing to give bowhunters a go at it.
