WOW!! That was a FUN event!! Hopefully, I will have some pics to post pretty soon.
Dewberry Farms did a fantastic job in setting up this outdoor event! They had LSBA's archery booth, fishing with TPWD Game Wardens, retriever demonstrations, duck identification, rock climbing, skeet shooting, hayrides, duck calling, finger-printing for the kids, etc. They provided free hotdogs and drinks. The kids that registered became DU Greenwing members and received raffle tickets. I was impressed at how well this youth event was organized.
The LSBA has lots of kids come and shoot. There were kids of all ages. We had recurves and compounds available. The kids would shoot and get back in line to shoot "the other kind of bow." The coyote and turkey seemed to be the favorite targets. We also had IBEP information available to them.
A BIG THANKS to Connie and Dennis Balusek and the Rosser family for coming out to help! I also would like to thank my husband, Bobby and our son, Ty, and his friend, Trevor, for helping with the booth. It was a hot day, but we had a steady stream of kids come and shoot. Another thanks to Jack Jetton for letting us use his targets and bows!!
The great news is that we were invited back next year!
