Bowhunting for Redfish
Yeah, yeah I know it's illegal to bowhunt for redfish, but read on and you'll find that this is ok.
Here I am at my retirement home in Rockport. It's a calm day so I saunter down to the pier to defend my "MULLET CHAMPIONSHIP". That's right reader in case you are unaware I took home the prestigious award at this years LSBA banquet for the largest mullet.
Now this is serious business and I have to defend my title so having nothing better to do (other than a lot of unfinished jobs around the house) I decided to see what I could do. There were mullet everywhere. Maybe that's why I was able to finally hit one at 20 yards (I don't like to take the close shots as it's unsporting  ). After taking pictues of what I hoped was to be this years award winning mullet I pondered life's big question...cut bait or crab traps? Finally I decided why not both so filleting the mullet I put out a big chunk in the bay and put the rest in my crab traps.
Time went by (like time always does) as I worked in the kitchen. It's hot sauce time and I'm making my third batch so I'll have plenty for the fall venison chili.
Meanwhile back at the pier I had some luck. After about 30 minutes of making sauce I went back out and found a 26 inch 6pound 14 oz redfish on my line. So you see if I hadn't bowfished up that mullet for bait, I wouldn't have dinner. So indirectly you have to say I've been successful in bowfishing for redfish.

The logic of it all makes my head hurt! And I've been off the beer for over a month!
Sigh.....it's heck getting old.
Looks at calendar to head to Tommes to beat his record off his own pier....hehe

Actually it depends on WHERE you bowfish for Reds. If you go to Louisiana, it's perfectly legal unless they have changed something just recently! 8) Either way....you're still the Mullet King and that goes a long way!!

Don't tell him that, it goes to his head. And then we have to listen to it over and over and over if you know what I mean.

Indi you see the type of jealousy I have to put up with. I understand that there is a large contingent trying to push me off of my throne, but I think I may have a lock on this one. :P
