Default LSBA membership drive raffle-- get together?

First, i like to thank all involved for the time and dedication--and donations. THANKS

could we take this oppertunity to gather, shake hands, get to know one another. being new here i can see that there are banquets and hunts and 3-d shoots, but are there just gatherings??
this seems like an opertune time to have a semi-business but casual-friendly get to know each other and for us(newbies) to learn the direction LSBA wants to go. maybe find were we can help?
i realize it's almost impossible for everyone, but 1 Saturday in July? maybe it should be regional so that the drive is shorter?

55 new or renewed members since May 9th, that says alot for LSBA and the motivation of the current board and rep's.

well this was just a thought, maybe it will grow or maybe it has been tried and died. i'm new so i had to try. somethings gotta get this place ( forum)rolling again!! lol

thanks again

ps. i'm pretty sure i joined LSBA back in the mid 80's for 1 year and never heard from a soul and lost interest. now we have the internet, but more importantly this time around i would like to find where i can help.

Steve , I think that is a good idea and yea this board doesn't get a whole lot of activity. Do you have any web experience? I think we are going to have a EC meeting is a couple of weeks in Austin and I encourage all that want to come and sit in on the experience are welcome! Thanks for coming back on board!

sorry but not a drop of web exp. comp. are low on the monitary priority list, we still run w98/sec ed. here.
about the best iv'e done is LAN the home comp.

do they post the date's of these meeting on the forum? Austin is close enough to make and would be nice to meet others in this sport.

background.. i've been shooting since the 80's. lived in this area (north of 1960-S of conroe) since i was 3. pro shops have come and gone or where on the other side of town. set my bows up myself and done a few friends. (useing a rope and 3 wood dowels to relax the bow,how old fashion is that?) that's been upgraded though.
two years ago i finally did a search on the internet and realized how big the sport had got. didn't even know 3-d had taken off. used to be just a club get together on someones property and everybody brought targets.
now that i have found TBH and other sites i finally realized how in the closet i had been. gander mountain and cabela's mail order had sustained me until now!! lol
joining LSBA and feeding my addiction at TBH have just refueled my desire to pass on whatever it is inside me that feels this need for archery.

kids are old enough now that i can spend more time doing what i love, and as soon as financialy possible my wife is going to get a trip to the pro-shop( and if she would do her upper body exercises) to get her into target shooting. she not sure about the hunting part yet. talking her into the camera part for that.

this sport has a grip on me and has grow exponetialy while i sat content in my own world. i would like to change that, learn more and share what i found.
fellowship hunts sound great. to bad the tend to stay to the far North. i haven't hunted pigs at night with a bow, bet that's a rush!

let me know how i can contribute!

thanks

Steve a GTG is a great idea! Now we will just have to work out the details.

The EC is in the process of scheduling their next meeting. I will let you know when it will be. Also, we are looking into some different hunting venues. Hopefully, one will work out for you and your wife. Now, go get that lady a bow!

BTW--the 55 members and renewals that are posted on TBH are from March, 2006, when Bownanza was held.

[color=green:2773295266]I think having some regional get togethers for LSBA members is a great idea! Maybe the Regional Reps can plan something for their region. Don

checked around the forum, hmmm except for the 3-d shoot this weekend in Austin (9-10th) not much news from my region (77) march??
i wonder if R-77 can get the BowZone shop to host a "shoot-together"
kinda break the ice in a comfortable atmosphere, and maybe pick-up a few sales in the process?
hmmm another thought.. $5 shoot-together entry fee(pot) and if 10 people show up $50 for a youth bow or whatever might be needed for the bows4kids over on TBH. Donated in the name of LSBA
anybody know the owner at the BOWZONE?

Steve, check with Bobby (Chew) on The Bow Zone. He knows those guys. The owner's name is Brian. I spoke with him on the phone about becoming a dealer member and just sent him an application last week. I am hoping to hear back from him.
