Three bowhunters were inducted into the LSBA Bowhunter Hall of Fame at the Banquet last weekend. Ty Brumfield, Micky Schillings and Tomme Actkinson. It was my honor to make the presentation for Micky Schillings.
Micky Shillings was born November 21, 1948 and grew up shooting a bow as a kid in the Jasper, Texas area. Micky went into the military and was stationed in Alaska where he met his wife Connie. Micky and Connie had a daughter who they named Patti. After his military service, Micky got back into bowhunting. His brother Ralph got Micky into shooting archery tournaments. Micky became an accomplished archer and had the distinction of shooting 5 perfect scores in a row. Micky and Connie owned and operated Just Archery Bow Shop in Jasper. They were also was instrumental in forming the Just Archery Bow Club where 3D tournaments are held.
Micky and Connie decided they wanted to give something back from the success they had enjoyed and settled on the St. Jude
