Default 2006 3D Tournament Schedule Posted!

I am glad to say that the 2006 3D schedule has been approved and is posted below. As soon as I get a host club for the July shoot I will post the date and location. The schedule as well as the rules should be updated on the website in the near future.

2006 LSBA 3D Tournament Schedule

Regional Tournaments

March 18-19, 2006 Tejas Bowmen Archery Club (Corpus Christi, TX)

April 22-23, 2006 Saltgrass Archery Club (Hitchcock, TX)

May 20-21, 2006 Canyon Lake Archery Club (Sattler, TX)

June 10-11, 2006 Austin Archery Club (Austin, TX)

July TBA, 2006 TBA

State Tournament

August 5-6, 2006 Brazos County Archery Club (Bryan, TX)

For all Regional Tournaments there will be a Shotgun start at 12:00 PM on Saturday except for March 18 which will be an 10am shotgun start due to the Annual Awards Banquet being held later that evening. Sunday shoots will have a shotgun start at 9am. Both Traditional and Compound shooters will be allowed to shoot on either day. If you shoot your compound class on Saturday, you will only be able to shoot the Traditional or Unaided class on Sunday. If you shoot Traditional on Saturday then you can only shoot another Traditional class or Compound Unaided on Sunday.

The State Tournament will begin with a Shotgun start at 9:00 AM on both Saturday and Sunday.

Default LSBA tournaments

Why are all the tournaments so far south. :? Is there no LSBA tournaments around the DFW area. If not why. I think I may know the answer but I have to ask..

Birddog,

Unfortunately this has been a problem for several years now. There are many reasons why there are not any clubs willing to host shoots in the Northern part of the state, and every club has a unique reason why. Some of the reasons that are mentioned to me are: the lack of profit made through hosting an LSBA shoot, the club may already be committed to too many big shoots(any shoots other than regular club shoots) for the year, or there is sometime personal issues that I am not fully aware of. More times than not it is the first two. When you have the ASA and IBO to compete with it is hard. I am not sure what the income structure is for the ASA or IBO, but I have been told that the host club of there shoots makes a mighty large profit as compared to a non-profit entity such as the LSBA.

I would like to see some of the shoots held up north, but until we get some clubs that are willing to do so, we will have to stay south where our support seems to be.

Brandon try this guy, Greg Skidmore 903-785-8916 he heads up a club in Paris Tx. I talked to him and I think they might be willing to hold a shoot. They have a lot of land and good targets. Let me know what you find out.
Thanks Ronny (75 Rep )

Maybe Paris could be the July shoot.

Birdog about half of the Council hails from North Texas. We'd love to have a big Regional up there.

In addition, Elvis Jennings and Steve Whittington got together with the Heart of Texas group last year and held a Fellowship shoot up in the Fort Worth region last summer. No reason that any club that wanted to couldn't do this as well.

The Collins County Club has hosted an annual LSBA shoot to benefit the Bowhunter Defense Fund every year for at least the last 11 years (probably more than that, but I don't go back further than that).

So there are and can be more shoots up North. We just need more interest from local clubs that want to support the state bowhunting organization

I've not heard from Brandon. So I don't know if he talked to the Paris club or not, I also emailed him so maybe I'll hear something soon.
