What kind of recurve do you have? If it is relatively new, most likely it can handle fast flight. Are the tips built up? That's the easiest way to tell. If your lams are not reinforced at the limb tips, the fast flight will cut into the laminations. For those bows designed for fast flight, you'll see they've reinforced the tips with 3 or 4 extra laminations.
Fast flight doesn't stretch as much as dacron or linen. This, I think, is the primary reason fast flight cuts into the limbs. This is second hand information, so, someone may have better information for you. Tell us, your bow, and I'll get the best information for you that I can.
