What stick did you take your deer with?
I took mine with a 52#@28" Great Plains longbow (Greatplainsman) using a 500grain 55/60 POC shaft with 135grain 2 blade Zwickey Delta. 19 paces. (Total arrow weight with head 500 grains)

Haven't had any luck with the stick and string this year. I also shoot a Great Plains bow. Red River Gray recurve. Bill makes a real nice bow.

I was lucky enough to take two deer this year, a dandy muley buck, and a whitetail doe. Both were taken with a Morrison recurve (easier to travel with than my longbows). It pulls 80 lbs at 28 in, but I only pull it about 27 1/2. I am shooting carbon arrows with added weight tubes to get the grains and spine up. Magnus 2 blade heads.

Dang, Chunky why ya shoot such a light stick?
Good job on the venison critters. |
I took two deer (a doe and a 10pt) and two hogs. All were taken with a Matthews FX set at 54# and Thunderhead 125s on goldtip carbons. All four shots were in the heart region and so far I've had very short tracking jobs. (Note that has not always been the case for me, but this was a good year).

Evenin' Fellas,
Took a Muley and 2 WT with a Black Swan Carbon Classics Longbow (54#)... Took a hog with a Black Swan Carbon Classics Hybrid (75#). Sackett |
I took two doe on the lease this year. Both were shot with a black widow SAIII 60lbs@28. Of course I only pull about 26. I used Blackhawk carbonwoods with 125gr heads. At the time I shot the deer they weighed about 500gr. Now I have them weighing about 650gr.

Wow, this thread has been around a while.
Okay, I am now shooting a Roland Jenkins recurve (only 70lbs) that I got in July or Aug last year. With this bow I have taken a pronghorn, a turkey, an axis buck, a whitetail buck, and three hogs. I killed one turkey that I did not recover (makes me sick to think about it) and I let about a 100 hogs and a few does live. :D |
I took my first animal with a stick last year, an exotic ram.
Bob Lee Signature, 60#s, 62" AMO. Carbon Express Heritage 350s with a 125g head and aquarium tubing to weight them up to around 680g. Complete pass through at about 12 paces. What a feeling! :D |
Came up dry this year. But, this year's not over yet. Really trying to make the fellowship hunt again this year.
|
I somehow managed to shoot 2 does and a buck with a 60# widow and a 600 gn carbon. Passthru on. 2 of them went thru a shoulder blade. I love that setup.
