How would you hunt the end of the rut?
You have no feeders at all.
You have found a rub line and several scraps. Acorns are limited and you have a wheat field about 200 yards away. Where would you place your stand? Would you use a grunt tube? Would you use scents? |
GOOD question Timm!
If it was the very tail of the rut it would depend. A) If the bucks are not running the does hard anymore I would concentrate on their bedding areas and the available acorns then the Wheat field. Bucks are tired and going to need to replenish. If the acorns are real sparse, then hit the wheat. B) If the bucks are still running does...then hunt the does...the bucks will be where they are and I would use attractant scents (estrous, tarsal etc..). Chances are the bucks are hitting the scrapes at night. So the final analysis, hunt the does and their bedding areas...the bucks will be there. Hope you bag a big boy! Say hi to the family. |
Thanks Mike.
Hopefully, where I picked to hang my stand will work. :D [/b] |
