Ed Foreman Youth Essay Contest A Little About Ed Foreman: Ed Foreman was the LSBA/TBBR Records Chairman for many years, and set the benchmark of standards for future records chairmen. His unselfish efforts as an official TBBR and P&Y measurer of encouraging bowhunters in his area to enter thier trophys into the TBBR record book will go unmatched. Ed Foreman, of Orange, Texas, drowned on February 13, 2000. Ed and his grandson, 10-year-old Tyler, along with a friend of Tyler's, and 35-year-old Ty Brumfield were out in Ed's bowfishing-rigged boat when foul weather caused the boat to take-on water. As the boat began to sink, all four swam for shore. The young boys, wearing lifejackets, made it safely. Apparently Ed and Ty were not wearing lifejackets and died in their attempts to swim to shore. Ed was survived by his wife, Judy, two daughters and four grandchildren. A long-time active member and records keeper of the Lone Star Bowhunters Association, Ed was also a Pope & Young Measurer and life member of the Professional Bowhunters Society. His love of bowhunting and bowfishing was obvious as he taught others, especially young people, how to shoot and enjoy the outdoors. His joking manner and jovial personality made him easy to know and impossible to forget. First, let me thank everyone who entered this years Ed Foreman Essay Contest. I really enjoyed reading all the entries. If bowhunting is to be carried on by our younguns, we are in good hands! After goin thru all the entries, I narrowed the choices down to three. I went back thru the best three and made a decision. Then, I had my wife Charlene read the top three. I didnt tell her which one I picked, but she picked the same one I did, so... the winner is... |
