LSBA January Hunt Report

OK we had nine adults and five kids. Once again we were able to let the kids hunt free (or at least for only a $25 bunkhouse fee). I saw a lot of doe and several bucks, but the shooters wouldn't come into my range and the big six pointer that hung around seven yards away seemed to know he was safe.

I'll let BrotherBill talk about his "Coyote Ugly" experience (no I mean real coyotes), but we were telling him to stop using that lip gloss as an attractant (more to that story, but you had to be there).

Mike Picou got a real nice doe and his nephew had a chance for one as well. Rest of us didn't bring home any meat, but we did harvest some good memories.

Nice to meet a bunch of new folks and we signed up three new members. Hope to hunt with you guys again. It was a good group. I'll try to get the group picture posted here later , unless of course any of you care to relate the fact that you're still in the witness protection program. LOL Of course that means I'll have to email it to Mike or Spike as I never have figured out how to do this.

On upcoming hunts, we'll be doing the third Grunts and Gobbles hunt at Brushy Hills in April. Dates are the 7-9th of April and we'll start taking deposits toward the end of this month (watch for the announcement).

I had a great time. Met alto of nice people. The lip thing was chapped lips and carmex but with this group nothing is sacred.I will tell coyote story latter.

Boy, if that group picture doesn't scare you away from any future gatherings, nothing will.

Had a great time guys. Hope to be able to do it again in the future.

OK, Brotherbill you had your chance to post the "true" coyote story...I waited till I got back from Rockport....guess I have to fill in the details on my own.

It was the Saturday night hunt. Bill was in a ground blind and as it got dark he was surrounded by a pack of coyotes just on the other side of the brush. He tried to scare them away with his flashlight (that mini-mag just ain't big enough). He says he even tried shouting at them (though I think the adrenalin shut down his vocal cords). Luckily Mike Harr came to pick him up and scared them off or there might have been a gruesome end to the story. Moral of this tale is to NOT use a cover scent titled "Fresh Hamburger" before the evening hunt. :P

But how does the lipstick fit in?! 8)

If I had known Bill was a wearin lipstick I wouldn't have let him ride with me!! Guys, it was a great hunt and look forward to the next one. 8)

Coyote story.... you forgot to include the part where BB was so scared he wouldn't hunt a ground blind the next morning! :P

You told it well Tomme, but it was much more fun giving him a hard time in person.
