Took my grandson hunting this weekend.

Took my grandson hunting this weekend.
I finally got to take my grandson to the woods he is 9 years old and has had a lot of bad times lately we his parents being bounced around. When I picked him up all he had for shoe was filfops, so we stopped at Dollar General and bought him a pair of tennis shoes to wear in the woods. Once we got to the lease he was a changed little boy. By this I mean he went from being wired and out of control to laid back and relaxed. Friday morning we went to my blind to kill a pig and a yearling doe showed up and he was amazed and in awe. Sorry to say no pigs, we watched the doe for about 15 minutes before she left. Needless to say my wife and my mother thought that he would not sit still but he did great especially for a kid with the trouble that he has. We went out Friday night was hot and he was tired (5:00am Wake up call :))but he did good again and he watch me terminate a corn thief (coon) again he was in awe of night. This morning he jumped out of bed and was ready to go to the woods he settled in and took a nap, we had no visitors so we went to the lake and swam and fished. So tonight we went to the woods at around 7:30pm and right at dark a doe came in and we watched her for about 20 minutes and it happened a huge boar came in and I busted him. We did not find him or my arrow. Hopefully we will find him tomorrow and get a picture to post. This weekend has been the best to see my grand son who has live in a broken home since birth and had his world turned upside down more times than I can count have the time of his life and I was there to share it with him. Thank God for bring him back into my life and me into his. I can't describe the joy it has given him. I hope this weekend will be the start of a new life for him it has been for me. Word cannot describe the joy of seeing him completely happy and care free. He got his first camo this weekend and he could not be prouder. Now he wants a bow so he can hunt to. This brings a home the term Take a Kid hunting to in a whole new way. I will be looking for he a bow when we get back and we are looking forward to deer season this year. :angel2:

RBH, that is great that your grandson has came back into your life and you into his. He is at the age that he really needs someone to to take him out and show him other things. Get that bow for him right away and get him back into the woods. Those are going to be memories you will have forever. Bob

Way to go Grandpa! That is an awesome story and very moving. I hope and pray the two of you get to spend much time together in the coming years, it sounds like the young man can use your company.
