 Cub / Mini Cub distances

On average, what distance are most people letting their kids shoot from?
The way the rules are written there is no wrong answer. I just wonder if I am doing my kids justice. I have both 5 and 6 year old shooters that I make shoot from about 10-12 yds (depending on size of the target) because at this distance they can hit foam regularly. I feel that this is the best for their personal progress as archers but may be costing them prizes. Winning a prize now and then sure helps a kid this age stay excited about going to shoots so I am torn, do I move them up so they win or do I make them stay back and face a challenge? |

Brent I struggle with the same thing I make my 10 yr old shoot from the white just because I know he can shoot good out to 30yds .
My five yr old there were some times his arrow was inches from the target I feel right now hes to young to get to technical with him as far as anchor look through the peep and all that my maine gole right now with him is for him to have fun and as long as hes hitting the animal hes happy. I just wish I could get my wife into it . |

One more thing keep the group small . By this I meen when we shoot at our club 3-D the kids are the last to shoot by that time if you have 3 or 4 adults shooting in your group the 10 ring is usualy full . My oldest will get on his knees and shoot to try to shoot under all of our arrows .
Thats what I like about LSBA you can shoot with your kids and they have a chance to shoot good with out having to dodge arrows . |
