First Point Bowhunting Youth Hunt
October 9-11, 2009

This is a great opportunity for kids 16 and younger to have a wonderful experience bowhunting for Texas' most coveted trophies. The bag limit for each hunter is an 8 point buck, a doe, a bearded turkey, one javelina, unlimited hogs and other varmints. All TexasParks & Wildlife Rules and Regulations apply.

There are 9 spots available for this hunt. The hunt is FREE of charge and includes lodging. Child and parent must be a current member of the LSBA throughout the entire entry process and at the time of the hunt.

Hunters for the 9 spots will be selected through a drawing. There are five (5) different ways that a child can earn a ticket for the drawing. There can be up to five (5) tickets per person.

Tickets can be earned by the following:

1. Complete the Hunters Education Course
2. Complete the International Bowhunter Education Program Course
(A child must be 9 to be certified by the Hunters Ed and 12 through the IBEP course, however, the requirement for the hunt is that the course be completed.)

For course schedules:

I just confirmed with Bar E that a child with an upper limb disability, who can currently legally hunt with a crossbow during archery season, is eligible for the Ed Foreman Youth Essay Contest.

Rule from Bar E's website:

Quote:

Only a person with an UPPER LIMB DISABILITY may use a crossbow to hunt. An upper limb disability is a permanent loss of the use of fingers, hand, or arm in a manner that renders the person incapable of using lawful archery equipment. A physician’s statement certifying the extent of the disability is required.

MIhunter, the deadline for the youth hunts is over. We announce the winners at our Banquets each year. We will have more youth hunts for next season 2010. We also have the grunts and gobble hunts where youth hunt free with a paid adult. Keep an eye out because we will post when something is happening. Bob
