Second trip a bust......sorta!

I guess luck wasn't with me this weekend when it came to the deer. I got out to the lease to late to hunt Friday night but thats ok cause I probably wouldn't of seen anything then either. All weekend I had 1 lone dove come in and eat his wieght in corn and that was it! I did how ever get the chance to take out my youngest boy whom turns 5 next month. This was his first time ever to go to the stand. It didn't really shock me I saw nothing Sat morning cause that boy has two lead feet and crunched on ever branch and cacti he came near. After about 6 falls, tripping over the tall grass we made it to the stand about 1/2 hour after the feeder went off. Once we got the cameras set up and found him a good place to sit and see he was amazingly quiet for him. This is a boy that I can't get to stop talking for more then 30 seconds at home. Even with a very uneventfull weekend he still wants to go again. It was so awesome to be able to share my knowledge of hunting with someone who had never been in the field before. He still has to go threw a couple of seasons of learning before he gets his hand at the actual killing part, but until then I will be taking him every chance I get to show him the ropes and hopefully he will get to be there when Tim or I get to take an animal.

Way to go... you have no ideal how much you are gaining by taking him with you. He will remember your hunts forever.

Well done. Sounds like yall had a great time. I took my son opening morning. It was his first time to sit w/ me in a ladder stand. Should have took the pop up! We didn't see an animal. Not even a dove!

As we were walking back to the truck after our morning hunt, Aaron said something that made my day. He said, "Dad, its ok we didn't shoot anything. I still had fun. It was cool to see the sun come up, huh?" That's my boy!!
