Did our little piggie find a home?????????????????
|
No losthawg but there was a guy there that took a pig with a trad bow but didn't put in 5 for the contest! So the pig still lives!

aarrrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh

Wonderful hunt. Sure wish I could shoot my recurve better. Somehow it's different at 2AM then it is at 2 in the afternoon. Stupid pig anyway  . Guess I need more practice under the moonlight.
Good to meet the new people as well as some OLD friends. I think we'll make a change next year and have the raffles and group picture on Sat midday after the balloon challenge. That way everyone can get in it and the guys who need to go home early can. I think the count was 4 hogs and a turkey. Don't spill the beans too much as I want to write this up for the magazine. Oh yeah, don't explain the wiggling fingers to anyone not on the hunt. The picture is great and I think I can get it into the magazine so long as no one knows the meaning. |
I had a great time as always. I wish I would have got to spend more time with the guys at the other camp...John P. ,Robert C., and the rest.
The best part for me was my friend Bob Snow getting his first animal ever with a 30 year old bear recurve. That really made the trip, and he is planning on writing up the story for the next magazine. I did not see any game on this trip, but the friends and nice weather made for a relaxing weekend away. We went up to the TBOT shoot on Saturday and that was fun also. Thanks to those who coordinated and did the work. Looking forward to the next one. Mark |
 Mark didn't want to see me! By the way   pig is in my storage you B@#t@#d!
|
LOL. I just laughed so hard people are looking at me at work. Brad, you probably got me in trouble with that. That cracked me up.
I do wish I had gotten to spend more time with you, I hardly got to give you any....hard time... at all. You guys put me in that camp to babysit Tomme. I know you did. Okay, I hope we have a summer hunt, and now I got to go explain to my boss what is going on. |
Hey chunky, show me a little more respect. I'm the guy that got Brad to take that pig off your hands. Babysit huh? When you find the pig buried in your sleeping bag on your way home next time I have no idea how it got there.
|
No disrespect intended, I was defending you on the hunt, when Brad told me not to trust you.
Great job sticking him with the cursed pig. You tell a good story and can take a little ribbing, your are welcome to hunt/camp with me anytime. |
If I remember correctly, Mark, you're the one that cursed us with that thaing. Shoot, I was down at Freer hunting with Eric Zuniga on the Brush Country bowhunting ranch and didn't see a single one. No hogs, no javelina, just those sorry deer. Had a buck stand around in front of me at 10 steps for about 20 minutes, but no hogs. I think that concrete swine is our undoing.
Well, maybe I can get me a turkey bird in the morning. Remember, shoot low and tight to the front leg with SHARP cut on contact heads. We had 3 hogs walk while I was down there that were hit just a tad too high or not enough penetration. Don't know if I could've done any better, but I'd at least like to have had the chance. All in all, it was a good hunt; an enjoyable trip. But, I think the cloud of your, Mark, concrete pig is hanging over us. (this is all meant in jest) We'll get it taken care of here d'rectly! I hope. |
Tracy,
I take my share of the blame, but if you will remember,,,,,it was you who helped me come up with the idea. Like the fabled King Aurther and the sword in the stone...we need a young bowhunter to break the curse. Maybe on the next hunt. When is the next one planned????? Do we have a summer hog melt down on the books yet???? |

Well, I'm hoping to be sittin in a bush again soon. |
Let's get another one goin!!
|
Thanks Chunky, feel the same way about you. Been some great campfires on some of these hunts and if no one insults you then you must be doing something wrong, or you're working hard at maintaining a low profile.
Tracy, I am aiming low and I'm still shooting completely over them in the moonlight. My cut on contact broadheads are doing a heck of a job killing mesquite and sand though. Graybow, I'm all for another hunt soon, but with the house move will pass the buck on to someone else from the EC who wishes to set one up. If anyone knows of a reasonably priced ranch and would like me to do the contact legwork, I'd be more than happy to do this. Otherwise, I'm probably out of the picture on going on one of these till next fall or maybe even January. We had talked about doing a bowfishing hunt, like Tilapai or gar. If enough folks are interested we ought to see about hiring a boat and doing one of these. Again though, I'd probably have to pass the buck on it for this year. Darn, I'm wishing I could go again this week. |
