Prayers needed!!
Just got off the phone with Tomme. Joe(Tomme's wife) was hit from behind by a pickup going 50! The seatbelts and airbag saved her life! Tomme said no major trauma they think. They are waiting for more test results!! Send one up for Joe and Tomme!!

JOE? Neither my wife, nor my boyfriend goes by that name.
Thanks folks. We are both fine. I have to hand it to the Toyota people. The Yaris Jo was driving was destroyed in the front and in the back but the passenger compartment stayed whole and the airbag and seat belts did their job. When the EMS guy first saw the car he called for a helicopter to air/evac, but luckily we didn't have to do that. Two lane country road and JO pulled up and stopped behind a car turning left. The Ford (?) pickup hit her from behind and smashed her into the car in front and caused her to spin into the oncoming lane and even sideswipe a car there. The pickup that hit her was going fast enough that after it had bounced her out of the way it still had enough momentum to hit the car that was in front of Jo. No skid marks at all. We all need to examine our driving habits, especially in terms of paying attention. If the person that hit Jo hadn't lost concentration then there would have been no accident. I was amazed when riding in the ambulance to the hospital (they wouldn't allow me in the back, but I was up front), but I was amazed as to how many people were clueless that they had an amubulance coming up on their tail with sirens, flashers and horn going. Too many folks on cell phones etc. who don't have a clue. I was a little distraught, but I stayed professional and tried not to give anyone that richly deserved it, the finger. I still couln't believe it though. Anyway, we were very fortunate and so far, other that being sore ,JO is okay. Thanks again for all the thoughts and prayers. |
Glad she is OK. I'll bet she is real sore this morning

Tomme, Glad Jo was not hurt serious. I know exactly what you mean about people being clueless around emergency vehicles. Not only the ones that you are coming up from behind on, but the ones that you are meeting. There are still several that will not pull over and yeild to the emergency vehicle. But again, glad Jo is well. Bob
