I got mine done over the phone with Dena (actually it was Bobby) 'cause I was gonna be too late to get it there by the deadline (Thank you Kanas!). It is done though so I will see everyone there. Ronny it will be good to see you again; it's been a long time.

axisbuck24 01-11-2011 08:50 PM

This is shaping up to be a great hunt.

DoubleB20 01-12-2011 08:42 AM

I've worked out a deal with the preserve owner for overnight accomodations, IF...you don't mind bringing your own cot or air mattress and sleeping bag. There is a restroom, but no shower. It's a nice clean place with a couple of couches, TV and fireplace. We'll still have to go to town for food, but you'd have to go out to eat if you were in a hotel anyway. If we want, we can bring steaks and cook on the grill... He said he'd charge $20/night per person. Please keep in mind, this is just a big room and everyone would be snoring/sleeping (and other bodily functions) in the same room. We can accomodate 10-12 folks. I think it would be fun, but I'm an old country boy. Let me know if you want to take advantage of this opportunity.

I'll be sending directions and other general information the week before the hunt. If you have questions, please feel free to call me 817.368.3337.

I'm looking forward to this!

Brian

DoubleB20 01-14-2011 08:39 AM

Ronny - received your check - finally. I think our country mail man has skipped us a few times in the last week or so...guess it's too cold for her to stick her hand out the car window.

biggen 01-17-2011 09:02 AM

Season is over for the North Zone, guess it's pheasant season now!!!!

biggen 01-24-2011 09:35 AM

I know before I went on my hunt last spring I practiced with the nerf football. I got to where I could hit it often enough to feel like I had a chance on the pheasants. Well, lets say the pheasants are probably still laughing (or would be if the two guys hunting with me had not have had shotguns).

Your on!!!!!!!!!

Ronny 01-25-2011 04:36 PM

I'll bet we laugh more than we kill birds.

axisbuck24 01-25-2011 05:40 PM

I think secret weapons are in the works from Bisch and Texas50. Looks like a good time in the making.

biggen 02-01-2011 08:33 AM

The time has come but it looks like it will be cold and possibly snowing how cool is that!!

Texas5o 02-01-2011 08:55 AM

I've never hunted anything in the snow with a bow. I always wanted to so I could follow a blood trail in the snow. I don't see this as being much of an opportunity for a blood trail, but it might make the birds a little easier to see.

axisbuck24 02-01-2011 09:36 AM

Your photographer is getting scared of the snow! Especially since it will be a late start for me on Friday.:chatterbox:

BOBSTER 02-01-2011 11:47 AM

Those pheasants will look real pretty against the white snow. Makes me wish I was going to be there even more. To many irons in the fire all the time.:(

You are one funny man Sir Brad! I will be watching the weather to check road condition before making finally decision. Rubber tires and ice do not mix

The weather is anyone's guess. I understand the apprehension from the folks towards Houston. The weather at Gainesville is basically the same both days. I have a significant conflict on Sunday that I really can't reschedule. I have the birds reserved and scheduled for pick up, the meal is ordered and waiting pickup, the hunt club has reserved fields for us, etc. I really need this to stay with Saturday. I can't get my home email from work, so please post here for comment.

Thanks!

Brian

biggen 02-03-2011 10:43 AM

Saturday is best for me!! Maybe if people want to drive up Sat. morning avoiding the weather you could start the hunt later in the day say 11:00?

DoubleB20 02-03-2011 10:53 AM

Yes we could start later on Saturday. I'd have to clear that with the guides and their dogs, but that's something that's more doable than Sunday.

Bisch 02-03-2011 01:58 PM

Me and Steve will plan on being there Fri eveneing then for the hunt on Sat.

What time on Saturday? Road conditions are not expected to clear up till Saturday afternoon in my area and I have a four plus hour drive. This is sounding more like I will not be able to attend. :(

For once, I hope the weatherman is wrong!!!

Bisch,
What time are you leaving tomorrow? PM me your phone number so that I can let you know whether to carry my bow with you.

DoubleB20 02-03-2011 04:34 PM

Let's shoot for an 11am start, Saturday.

axisbuck24 02-03-2011 05:17 PM

The Hunt has officially been canceled and will be rescheduled! Good move Brian!!!

DoubleB20 02-04-2011 10:24 AM

OK..everyone is wimping out on me...

Just kidding, the weather has forced us to postpone the event until later. Those that have signed up, please check your calendars for the next available weekend. I'm open except for Feb 19 for now. We can probably go all the way to the end of March if necessary.

Thanks!

Brian

Glad to hear everyone is staying off the road! Agree canceling hunt and rescheduling it was the best move given the hazardous conditions.

Trad Pole 02-04-2011 02:00 PM

Brian,
I am open on the following dates:

Saturday Feb. 12th
Saturday March 12th
Saturday March 19th
Saturday March 26th

Please let me know when it is rescheduled. You might also want to post on TBH once the date has been set.

biggen 02-04-2011 02:10 PM

Feb 26th works best for me!!

Brad,
That is the same weekend as Beauxs and Reds. Plus some of the same LSBA members that were committed to the pheasant hunt are committed to beauxs and reds.

Texas5o 02-04-2011 02:34 PM

" I'm open except for Feb 19 for now. "
Thanks!

Brian,
Are you referring to that entire weekend or just that particular day. That's the only weekend I could do it unless it's in April. If it has to be a Saturday then I may have to catch the next one.

Bisch 02-04-2011 04:58 PM

I cannot go on 3/12 or 3/19. That is spring break and we already have family plans.

Bisch

biggen 02-04-2011 05:37 PM

Just pick a date. If someone can't go maybe they can sell or give to somebody else!!
