Ditto. How is it setup?

I am by no means an expert on this because I have only been one time on the G&G but what I saw the time I went was to listen for the turkeys and then try and set up and call them in. Don't sit around the feeders because the animals will stay away from them. Find a good place to set up on the feed route and hunt it. Bob

I agree with Bobster on listening for them and moving to where they're at. Feed route is good. I don't know that the turkeys are as spooky around feeders as would be deer and hogs. One fellow on a hunt told me that when the feeder went off a gobbler was trotting up the road to it, until of course he saw the hunter.

Strickland is probably the best person to answer this as he is a lot better turkey hunter than most of the rest of us. I think it's kinda that old takes one to know one.....

LostHawg 02-27-2010 02:30 PM

I won't be able to make it this year. Between PIPs and family health issues, I'm gonna be tied up.

biggen 02-27-2010 03:59 PM

Sorry to hear Tracy but glad to see ya around the site!!

Ronny 02-27-2010 09:08 PM

Pop up is the best way to hunt turkeys. No need to brush it in, they act like its been there all the time. I have killed one just hiding behind a bush. Bring your decoys, if they lock on to them its game on.

I think Derek is coming too, so there may be some competition for the pig. I need to get to shooting some more. Maybe I can hit more than the feeder leg this time.

Cameron 03-15-2010 12:08 PM

Anyone have a tri-pod I can borrow for Grunts & Gobbles? I don't have one here in College Station and would prefer not to drive across the state to go get mine! :)

Thanks in advance, I'll bring some beer in return for it. :)

biggen 03-15-2010 03:14 PM

I got one you can use Cameron but you can give Tomme the beer!!

Brad

Cameron 03-15-2010 03:20 PM

Alright bud! Thanks...that works for me!

Ronny 03-15-2010 09:10 PM

Please don't give Tomme any beer:chatterbox:.
, he is bad enough already.:p:D

Tomme 03-16-2010 12:25 AM

Wow free beer, thanks to both Biggen and Cameron. Now did you say Bud? That's fine... or Miller, ... or even my favorite ... Old Milwaukee. Just don't bring any of that Milwaukee Best. Shudder, that stuff is almost bad enough to make you give up on free beer.

We've got 20 people coming on the hunt. Like to have a few more, but if we end up with only 20 we could all probably draw two spots apiece.

Cameron 03-16-2010 10:22 PM

My son, Payton, and I want to attend. Hope it is not too late. I left a message with Dena tonight about payment.

Are most of you going on Friday(tomorrow)? I will be leaving Houston around 5pm (school and work), so I wont arrive at camp until 10pm-ish.

Will we get to hunt Sunday mornin prior to departure?

We meet some of you at Carizzo Springs last year.

biggen 03-25-2010 08:35 PM

yes you can hunt Sunday morning!

Speak The Language 03-25-2010 10:10 PM
